I’d Rather Smoke then Kiss
In this news commentary magazine you see Florence King’s Strong opinion on smoking. She says that she has been smoking for approximately 28 years and she rather enjoys it. She goes on to explain how her mother was an addict. Her mother started smoking at the age of 12 to be rebellious. Smoking all through her pregnancy and not cutting back. Florence stats that she didn’t grew up up living a healthy life even with all the smoke she lived around.
King continues on a little bit about her mother and her life and how she started because she was a writer. Telling us about how cool this one cigarette box was so cool looking. Buying two packs she emptied them out and used them for paperclips. She later picked one up and has been on them ever since.
While reading this commentary I could almost feel the rage she portrayed in it. She went on and on about how people don’t like smokers. It sounds like she had run into quite a few of them.
She pointed out that the government is okay with it. The way the article was written seemed as if it was good people smoke, because then they die before they have to retire and then the gov. wouldn’t have to pay for the retirement.
Going on, her voice really stood out and it made me see what its like from the smokers point of view. I think that those of us who ’ smoke could feel guilty reading this. At the same time however I still think that people should stop smoking. Even though they like it there hurting themselves in the long run. But none of us can stop them.

Why are we here?
that’s an interesting question, it can be pushed into just about any Cenairo. Like why am I at Wal-Mart? Why am I at work? But I’m asking ‘Why am I here in school?’
Simple. I’m here to learn how to do artwork, and learn how the art world works. Also I’m looking for that piece of paper everyone talks about in high school that is suppose to get you a lot of money. In today’s society we focus a lot on money. Our mind simply can’t resist it.
That is because that is what has been hammered into us since we were little. We want bigger we want better, we want to make you look stupid because our stuff is more expensive then yours! We use name brand so your dumb! Because you don’t use name brand.
It’s in commercials, It’s in advertisements which by the way are every where. Posters. T.V. Music. Radio. Computer. Newspapers. So on and so forth. Anyway we turn our heads it buy this and buy that. No one we are always wanting bigger and better. But how do you get bigger and better?
Money. So the more money the happier we are, because the more we can get. The Bigger the Better we can get. We do this so we can ‘fit in’.
Stop, think about it. Why do we care so much about fitting in? What does the others person’s opinion have to do with us at all anyway? That is one of Americas biggest down falls. Once we can get over this. I think that life will flow much smoother. I know there will be bumps along the way. But once we get over what other people think. We suddenly have the power to say no, or I don’t care, Why do I need this monster t.v.? Its not like my eyes are that big anyway.
Food for thought.
